Discover the two jewels of the Yangtze Delta on this efficient 2-day private tour. Departing from Shanghai, you will first visit Wuzhen (East Gate), a water town frozen in time with its rich folk traditions and ancient dwellings. Then, travel to Hangzhou for an overnight stay. The next day is dedicated to the “Heaven on Earth”: enjoy a boat cruise on the West Lake, find peace at the Lingyin Temple (or explore the unique Grand Canal Museums), and wander through the lush tea plantations of Meijiawu. Return to Shanghai with memories of stone bridges and green hills.
09:00: Pick up from your Shanghai hotel. Drive to Wuzhen Water Town (approx. 1.5 hours). We will visit the East Gate (Dongzha) scenic area. Unlike the resort-style West Gate, the East Gate is bustling with authentic life and rich history. Explore the Ancient Bed Museum, traditional workshops (indigo fabric, wine distillery), and watch the shadow puppetry show. Walk across Ming and Qing Dynasty stone bridges over winding canals. Late afternoon: Drive to Hangzhou (approx. 1.5 hours). Check in to your hotel and enjoy a free evening in this romantic city.
Morning: Enjoy a classic West Lake Boat Cruise. See the famous “Three Ponds Mirroring the Moon” (featured on the 1 RMB banknote) and admire the willow-lined banks. Next, visit Lingyin Temple & Feilai Peak, one of China’s wealthiest and most famous Buddhist temples with over 1,600 years of history. (Alternative Option: If you prefer non-religious sites or travel with kids, we can visit the China Knife, Scissors & Sword Museum and Umbrella Museum next to the Grand Canal instead). Afternoon: Visit Meijiawu Longjing Tea Village. Learn why Longjing is the “Queen of Green Tea,” walk through the tea terraces, and taste the fresh brew. 16:00: Drive back to Shanghai (approx. 3 hours). Drop off at your hotel.
